City Roermond
Most people know Roermond as the shopping capital of Limburg. This reputation is mainly owing to the Designer Outlet centre, just outside the ring road. You won't regret a visit to the historical heart of Roermond though! For instance, because the town centre has an eclectic mix of boutiques and specialty shops. Or you can enjoy the sun on one of the many terraces.
Activity
Looking for an active outing? Climbing the Christoffel cathedral is certainly worthwhile. The 86 metre high tower is part of a beautiful Gothic cathedral built in 1410. It is a bit of a climb, but the views over Roermond and the adjacent Maasplassen is absolutely worth the effort.

Historical
At the end of the amazingly beautiful Kapellerlaan you can find chapel In ’t Zand (In the Sand), a pilgrimage and parish church. This Mariakerk (Maria church) has attracted visitors (foreign and domestic) during the pilgrimage season for centuries. They predominantly come here to worship the Maria statue and the well it was found in. They were the basis of a series of miraculous events.

Restaurant NU Nautilus looks a lot like a cosy, traditional Dutch living room. The decoration and the interior contribute to a relaxed atmosphere. Particularly during the summer, just overlooking the yacht harbour and river Maas is already breath-taking. From the terrace you can admire the most beautiful sunsets.

An example of blunt culture in an overwhelmingly industrial environment. A former power plant has been refurbished into the ECI culture factory with something for everyone: from music to theatre, and from film to expositions of visual (modern) art. The building also accommodates an eatery and starred restaurant ONE.
